New Life Academy boys basketball: Eagles jump out to a 5-1 start
The New Life Academy boys basketball team has jumped out to a good start this season.
Most recently, New Life Academy earned its first Minnesota Christian Athletic Association conference win of the season as the Eagles cruised to a 94-53 win over Pact Charter School on Friday, Dec. 13, at New Life Academy. The Eagles (5-1; 1-0 MCAA) had six players in double figures. Senior Sam Nelson led the way with 16 points.
Just prior to the conference win, NLA earned a 69-49 win over St. Agnes on Tuesday in Woodbury. Four players scored in double figures for the Eagles, led by junior Conrad Engstrom with 15 points.On Tuesday, Dec. 10, New Life traveled to St. Paul Humboldt and struggled in the first half, but came out strong and pulled away at the end with a 69-54 victory. Nelson led the team with 24 points while Engstrom was the only other player in double figures with 13. Jake Wynia had a strong game inside with 8 points and 13 rebounds. The team came back home the next night to take on Christ Household of Faith and the Eagles led start to finish with an easy 84-58 win. All 12 players dressed that night scored at least one point with Engstrom leading the charge with 17 points. Also, Sam Horner added 15 points and Nelson chipped in 13 points.The Eagles have two more games before the break. NLA traveled to section foe Minneapolis Roosevelt on Monday, Dec. 16, after the Bulletin went to print. Next, the Eagles have a conference battle against Southwest Christian at home Friday night.
