Movie in the Park, 9/11 memorial service planned
The St. Paul Park Park and Recreation Commission is hosting a free Movie in the Park, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.
The evening will begin with a brief 9/11 memorial ceremony by members of American Legion Post 98, according to commission member Jennifer Cheesman.
Families are invited to attend the ceremony and movie at Veteran's Park, between Fourth and Fifth streets, north of Broadway Avenue The movie is suitable for all ages, according to Cheesman. To learn the title, go to www.stpaulpark.govoffice.com. Cheesman said the licensing agreement does not allow her to announce the name of the film.
Keith Franke, owner of Park Café, is sponsoring the event and donated $500 to cover the cost of licensing the film and renting a screen and sound system, Cheesman said. Franke will have movie snacks for sale during intermission.
The commission is planning to host a series of Movie nights in 2010. For details, e-mail chair Dean Barton at firstname.lastname@example.org or Jennifer Cheesman at (612) 220-3067.
