Marathon Petroleum repairs pipeline
There's a special ditch on the east side of the railroad tracks that closed traffic at the bottom of Pullman Avenue in St. Paul Park, Wednesday and Thursday, April 12-13.
Marathon Petroleum Co. was taking care of routine maintenance at five locations along its pipeline system, according to St. Paul Park Public Works Supervisor Lee Flandrich. Pullman Avenue was the first site, others are located in more undeveloped areas.
Flandrich said that traffic was closed because the ditch must be dug in a special way for safety considerations.
On Wednesday morning, a water main break at Pullman Avenue and Third Avenue confused matters slightly, Flandrich said. "But the two sites weren't connected in any way, and the break has been repaired," he said.
