Man charged with drug, weapons crimes
A 20-year-old man is charged with allegedly having 67 grams of marijuana in the trunk of his car on Sept. 7 when Cottage Grove officers searched it.
Ryan D. Kleschold, listed as having no permanent address, admitted to police that the marijuana, as well as a mirror, digital scale, pipes, grinder and other paraphernalia in the car belonged to him, according to the Washington County District Court complaint.
According to the complaint, someone called police to report young people in a gray car in the 7600 block of Hinton Avenue who appeared to be snorting something off of a mirror. When officers arrived at Kleschold's silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo, they saw smoke emanating from the car, and smelled the odor of burnt marijuana, the complaint says. Officers found the bag of marijuana in the trunk of the car and brass knuckles inside the vehicle's glove compartment, the complaint says.
Kleschold faces one charge of fifth-degree aiding and abetting drugs, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and $10,000 in fines and one dangerous weapons crime, which carries a maximum sentence of 90 days in custody and $700 in fines.
Kleschold is scheduled to make his initial appearance in court on Oct. 14.
