Man charged after stake-out
A Cottage Grove man questioned by police for sitting outside the home of a man he suspected was seeing his girlfriend ended up being charged with a drug crime.
Christoffer N. Schilling, 50, was spotted by a Cottage Grove police officer parked in the back corner of a lot in the 8100 block of East Point Douglas Road Jan. 22, according to the Washington County District Court Complaint.
When an officer asked the man what he was doing, he told the officer that he thought his girlfriend was cheating on him, and that the man he thought she was cheating with lived at the location, the complaint says.
The officer had Schilling step out of the vehicle, and noticed what appeared to be a glass smoking device in the car with white residue on it, the complaint says. During a search of Schilling, the officer found a baggie which Shilling later admitted contained methamphetamine, according to the court complaint.
Schilling is charged with one count of fifth-degree drug possession, and faces a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison or $10,000 in fines.
