Letter: Prayer breakfast 'awesome'
On Veterans Day (last Tuesday) Mississippi Dunes Golf Course hosted the third annual Cottage Grove Area Prayer Breakfast. Thanks to all our local sponsors for your help and for all those who participated and attended to make this event a success. We've heard such comments as, "Best prayer breakfast I've ever been to," "Awesome sense of community," and "Beautiful location." We want to say thank you to those representing local business, police, fire, emergency responders, pastors, educators and politicians who value this type of gathering. One hundred and thirteen pounds of goods were collected for the Friends in Need Food Shelf. Our keynote speaker Jay Coughlan shared a very moving personal journey of faith. He requested that his honorarium be donated to the Dakota County Cornerstone Jail Ministry in Hastings. Jail Chaplain Pastor Jim Bzoskie was taken aback by the gift, which will be used to help purchase two Christmas cards and postage for each of the 350 inmates to mail their loved ones. We welcome any feedback from attendees that can help us to make this event better each year. Anyone interested in more information or volunteering to help next year can contact us at (651) 459-7079 or email@example.com. This is called the Cottage Grove "Area" Prayer Breakfast. That "area" includes St. Paul Park, Newport and Grey Cloud Island, and we welcome your help and support. My wife Lee and I say a special thanks to our committee members and volunteers that worked tirelessly in making this breakfast a success.
