Letter to the editor: McNamara voted against progress
On Aug. 13, 1973, then-Minnesota Gov. Wendell Anderson made the cover of “Time” magazine for the “Minnesota Miracle,” a reform in financing of schools and local governments that led to fairer distribution in taxation and education.
In 2013, Gov. Mark Dayton and the Minnesota Legislature brought another “Minnesota Miracle” known as progress. Progress for our children and schools, progress for our middle-class workers, progress in jobs and infrastructure, progress for property tax relief.
Rep. Denny McNamara is on the wrong side of history, having voted against all of the above. He voted for non-payment to schools, he voted against middle-class tax relief, he voted against raising the minimum wage, and against funding needed for infrastructure. He voted for shutting down the government, and for spending $35 million for Nicollet Mall, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and St. Paul Palace Theater.
These are just some of the reasons why I am asking for your vote on Nov. 4. I want to be your representative in House District 54B.
