Investigate animal claims before spreading falsities
I read with concern the story “False Facebook post about dog neglect prompts outcry” (Oct. 16).
Like most people, I am on Facebook several times a day checking in on what’s happening in the lives of my Facebook friends. Recently, I have noticed an increasing number of spam posts about people abusing their pets. When I first noticed these stories, I looked at them seriously. However, with the great number of posts that show up in my newsfeed, they seem more like spam than truth.
After reading this story, I became concerned that people these days have lost the ability to use logic to think critically about a story. I hope in the future people will take the time to investigate claims made online, especially when there are serious allegations attached.
