The first-round of the section playoffs are set.
This morning East Ridge, Park and Woodbury found out who they'll face in the opening round of the 32-team Class 6A tournament.
As expected, East Ridge - the Suburban East Conference champions - earned the No. 1 seed in the eight-team Section 4AAAAAA and will take on eighth-seeded Forest Lake at The Nest in Woodbury. The Raptors were 7-1 on the year and 7-1 in the SEC. Woodbury (2-5; 2-5 SEC) was dealt the seventh seed in Section 4AAAAAA and must travel to Roseville, the No. 2 seed, for its opener. The Raiders finished 6-2 and 6-2 in the SEC. Park, the only Class 6A team out of the Suburban East Conference not in Section 4AAAAAA, earned the fifth seed in the eight-team Section 3AAAAAA tournament and will take on fourth-seeded Eastview (4-4; 4-4 South Suburban) on the road in the first round. Games are at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Park was 3-5 on the season.
Winners from the first round of the playoffs advance to the 16-team cross-over round which mixes Section 4AAAAAA and 3AAAAA in another eight-team field. Winners of those games move on to the elite eight.
