Grosso named Public Health vice chairwoman
Roseanne Grosso was elected vice chairwoman of the Goodhue County Public Health Board at Tuesday's meeting, one week after she was bypassed for a similar post on the County Board.
Bob Noah, Kenyon, was elected Public Health chairman.
Grosso, who represents Welch Township and the western half of Red Wing, expressed her gratitude, and asked why she was selected for a vice chairman this time but not last week. "Am I not doing something right?"
Jim Bryant, Hay Creek, explained that all county commissioners serve on three boards, and everyone takes a turn in serving on the six key leadership positions. "We are going forward," he said.
Bryant is current chairman of the Welfare Board, the other board to which Bryant referred, and Noah is vice chairman. The leadership transition there takes place in June.
Noah said he was chairman of all three boards at one time and that was a big responsibility. "Hopefully you will be grateful and not resentful," he told Grosso.
"Most of you have made chairman of the County Board by your fourth year," she replied. "I will not."
"We are here to talk about Pubic Health," said Richard Samuelson of Cannon Falls, former Public Health chairman and the new County Board chairman. The issue was subsequently dropped.
