Goin' to the beach
Cottage Grove Minnesota 7584 80th Street South 55016

Cottage Grove Elementary School first-grade teachers Janene Zavoral, Gail Scholl, Wendi Draper, Lisa Bush and Vicki Waldo teach a unit on sea life to their students each year. In the past, they have held Beach Day to celebrate the end of the unit and the end of the school year, but it's been held inside the school.

This year, teachers, and many parent volunteers, held it outdoors.

Each student had to visit each station, but it wasn't at all hard to get them to participate in playing with chalk, racing while wearing flippers, blowing bubbles, passing leaky water balloons, removing marbles from a plastic pool using only their toes and face painting.
