Gerald Pechacek, 82, Jan. 14, 2003
Gerald C. Pechacek, 82, Ellsworth, died Tuesday at Ellsworth Care Center. He was born July 15, 1920, in Beldenville to Carl and Nona (Teausaw) Pechacek. He farmed for 40 years. He worked for Jacques Seeds Co., the town of Trimbelle, and Pierce County Highway Department. He retired from Armours Meat Co. Then they traveled throughout the United States. He donated many gallons of blood over the years and ushered for more than 50 years at First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth. He enjoyed fishing and reading.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a truck driver and truck driver instructor during World War II. He also qualified as a sharp shooter. On Aug. 25, 1941, he married Marie Guest.
Survivors include his wife, Marie of Ellsworth; three children, Mary Drier of Rosemount, Minn., Gerald (Shelly) of Mesa, Ariz., and David (Linda) of West Bend, Wis.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Marvin) Ottman of Ellsworth, and Evelyn Bonte of New Richmond, Wis.; one brother, Carl (Donna) of Ellsworth; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth, with the Rev. Sarah Dickinson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ellsworth, with military rites by Kinne-Englehart American Legion Post, Ellsworth. Pallbearers will be Kevin, David and Clinton Johnson, Jim Ottman, Jason Anderson and Joe Pechacek. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and one hour prior to services at the church.
