Following weekend storms, county tests sirens Wednesday
Washington County conducted a countywide test of its emergency warning system on Wednesday after sirens failed to sound Sunday when a tornado touched down in the northern reaches of the county.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office has said an electrical malfunction prevented the sirens from sounding as a tornado touched down briefly in rural Forest Lake on Sunday. Officials said Wednesday's test was to ensure the problem has been resolved.
No injuries were reported as a result of Sunday's tornado in Forest Lake.
