Some families read the sign, but when their children asked why they wouldn't be fishing, decided to carry on with dipping lines into the pond.

Extra day to fish

A second "Take A Child Fishing Day" is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, July 17, at Hidden Valley Pond, located at the intersection of 70th and Hardwood streets.

The event is designed for families. Fishing poles and bait will be available along with fishing experts from MinnAqua and display tables with information about fishing in Minnesota.

A free lunch will be provided. The program is co-sponsored by Cottage Grove Parks and Recreation, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and MinnAqua.
