Few police calls at Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest
There was plenty of noise at Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest -- live music, carnival rides and games -- but it was a quiet weekend for law enforcement.
There were only a few police calls during the four-day festival that wrapped up over the weekend.
“It was a good event,” Public Safety Director Craig Woolery said.
Among the reported criminal activity:
— A 20-year-old Woodbury man was cited for underage consumption June 20 at Kingston Park.
— A 21-year-old South St. Paul woman was punched in the mouth while trying to break up a fight between two men at the conclusion of the June 21 concert, according to police. The men left the scene. Police had a possible name for one suspect. The incident was being investigated.
— A Cottage Grove woman reported that her vehicle was keyed over the weekend while parked at Grey Cloud Elementary School.
— A Cottage Grove woman told police that while she was at Strawberry Fest June 21 her vehicle was keyed and bottles were placed under the rear tires.
In addition to the criminal reports, a 9-year-old Cottage Grove girl on rollerblades was injured when she fell and was run over by a wheel of a trailer in the Strawberry Fest parade. She was hospitalized with injuries but they were not life-threatening.
