Family appreciates benefit turnout

To say thank you seems pretty meaningless right now. What does one say when faced with the kind of abundance and love such as we were last Sunday at our cancer benefit?

There will come a time when we will tell Adele about this event. What you have done will not be forgotten, will forever remain a lesson in beauty and grace for this family, for this little girl and for all who hear the story.

Specific thank yous to Carbone’s, the Lion’s Clubs of Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park-Newport, VFW Red Barn, Thrivent Financial, Advanced Sportswear, Jack Germo of State Farm Insurance, All Saints Lutheran Church and to all of the area vendors, businesses and volunteers whose generous donations of time, services, merchandise and prayers helped make this event such a raging success.

This was more than we could have imagined, and will enable us to pursue treatment for Bill’s cancer, and start a nice piggy bank for Adele. May all that has been shared with us be returned times two.

Editor’s note: A benefit was held March 2 for the family of Bill Whalen, who has appendix and colon cancer.
