County 4-H'ers will audition Monday and rehearse all week -- Monday and Tuesday at the Goodhue Lions building then Wednesday through Saturday at the Sheldon Theatre in Red Wing -- before performing the musical at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Sheldon.

The Missoula adaptation takes a new approach to the story. According to Missoula spokesmen, "The mystery is solved. Hansel and Gretel return safely from their perilous adventure deep in the woods and bring with them the age-old secret of the Wildwood Witch."

The youngsters tell a tale of crafty cooks, modern-day campers, creepy-crawly Nasties and cuddly Wallybird -- all portrayed by the children.

Missoula is the largest touring children's theater program in the United States. The company provides professional actor/directors plus costumes, makeup, scenery and props. This year Missoula will send out 24 teams to put on approximately 800 residencies in all 50 states, Canada, Europe, South America and Japan.

This is the ninth year that the University of Minnesota Extension Service, Goodhue County 4-H and the Sheldon Theatre are presenting a show.

Tickets, which cost $9 for adults and $5 for students, are available at the Sheldon. For information, call 4-H coordinator Bill Emery at 385-3100.
