East Ridge names Woodbury's Chad Cronin as head cross country coach
Woodbury boys swimming and diving head coach Chad Cronin has been hired as the first head cross country coach at East Ridge High School.
"Running has been a passion of his for a long time," East Ridge High School Assistant Principal Matt Kraft said. "He's always wanted to dabble in cross country."
The hiring of Cronin means every fall sport head coaching vacancy at East Ridge has been filled, with the exception of girls swimming and diving.
However, Kraft said he hasn't talked Cronin into coaching swimming and diving at the new school.
"He is still deciding on what he wants to do with swimming," Kraft said.
All nine of East Ridge's fall coaching jobs have already been posted, with the first round of posted head coaching opportunities -- for boys and girls soccer and girls tennis -- closing back on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008.
East Ridge, which will open in the fall of 2009, had already hired its boys and girls soccer coaches -- Phil Walczak and Mark Abboud, respectively -- its volleyball coach -- Katie Plummer -- its girls tennis coach -- Jon Rydberg -- its cheerleading coach -- Cindy Lambert -- and its football coach -- Ray Betton.
The interview process for winter coaching positions will begin April 6. The plan is to then begin hiring spring coaches in late May or early June, with everyone chosen before the end of June.
"That's when we'll have all of our staff named and we'll be ready to go," Kraft said.
