Cross-town gymnastics teams East Ridge and Woodbury went head-to-head last Thursday at East Ridge High School.

East Ridge (4-3) topped Woodbury 137.825 - 131.75 in the meet. The Raptors' 137.825 was a season-best.


Individually, for Woodbury (1-5), seventh grader Ally Trebesch won the all-around competition in the meet with a 35.25, edging East Ridge junior Kelly McKenzie, who scored 34.75 to take second in the all-around. East Ridge freshman Kelsey Deverell took third in the all-around with a 33.775.

McKenzie and Trebesch tied for first place in the vault with matching scores of 9.25. East Ridge freshman Karina Joiner placed third in the event with a 9.1.

East Ridge's Megan Trollen continued to improve after returning from a knee injury, taking first place in three events. The freshman won the bars (9.0) and the floor exercise (9.375) and tied with McKenzie for first place on the beam (9.0).

Trebesch placed second on the bars (8.45) followed by McKenzie (8.4), who was third. Trebesch was also third on the beam (8.75) and second in the floor exercise (8.8). Deverell placed third in the floor exercise (8.65).

Also turning in top scores for East Ridge was senior Jamila Joiner (8.85) in the vault, senior Libby Lawrence (8.425) in the floor exercise and Deverell (8.35) on the beam.

For Woodbury, junior Rose Peterson had the Royals' second-best score in the vault (8.6), on the beam (8.05) and in the floor exercise (8.55) and sophomore Tessa Halada had the Royals' second-best score on the bars (8.0).

Next, East Ridge is at Forest Lake on Thursday, Jan. 31, while Woodbury plays host to Cretin-Derham Hall on the same night.
