Stillwater handed East Ridge just its second loss of the season Tuesday in a 5-2 Suburban East Conference victory in Stillwater.

The Ponies (5-2-1, 4-0-1 SEC) got a goal at 3 minutes, 33 seconds of the second period from Taylor Naugle that stood as the game winner after the Raptors (7-2, 4-1 SEC) had rallied to tie the game 23 seconds earlier.

Stillwater went up 2-0 in the first period, but senior forward Jaedyn Walz and sophomore forward Brooklyn Pierre each put home a goal in the second period. Walz scored 2:48 into the period and Pierre struck 22 seconds later.

In less than a minute East Ridge had gotten back into the game and dug itself another hole. But the Raptors didn’t recover as Jane Vezina scored twice in the third period for the Ponies to put the game away.

East Ridge gave up a goal in the final minute of play in a period with Taylor Gulenchyn getting a goal in the final minute of the first period.

Both teams finished with 29 shots on goal and the Raptors outshot Stillwater 13-11 in the third period.

Erin Cheatham suffered the loss despite making 24 saves.

Following the loss, East Ridge used a four-goal second period to catapult itself to a 5-2 victory Saturday over Roseville at Bielenberg Arena in Woodbury.

The Raptors fell behind 2-0, 6:38 into the second period, but rattled off the next four goals of the period, three of which came on the power play.

Pierre cut the Raiders lead to 2-1 at 6:57 and senior Cassie Goff tied it at 8:45 with a power-play goal. Senior Kayla Griffith added a power-play goal at 10:29 and sophomore Anya Hafiz capped off the period with a power-play goal at 15:49. The power play finished 3-for-6 for the game.

East Ridge finished with 25 shots on goal in the period and outshot Roseville 36-20 for the game.

Senior Kayla Bender added a goal 49 seconds into the third period to put the Raptors up 5-2.

Cheatham made 18 saves in the win.

East Ridge faces Mounds View Saturday at Bielenberg Arena.
