East Ridge football: Raptors get good news on Hassenauer
According to team sources, East Ridge senior center J.C. Hassenauer has a strain in his right knee. Hassenauer, the top-rated center in the country and an Alabama recruit, hurt his knee in the first quarter of Wednesday's regular season finale win over Hastings and didn't return to the game. Team sources said they originally feared Hassenauer's injury might have been a torn medial collateral ligament, however an MRI showed differently.
The 6-foot, 2-inch, 295-pound Hassenauer, who also plays defensive tackle in specific sets for East Ridge, will miss next Friday's playoff game against Forest Lake and will be "week-to-week" going forward, the team said.
East Ridge finished the regular season 7-1 overall and earned the Suburban East Conference championship. The Raptors are ranked sixth in the latest QRF poll, second in the most recent AP poll and are the No. 1 seed in the Class 6A, Section 4 tournament.
