Donation puts East Ridge arts center near fundraising goal
A big-dollar private donation may take a south Washington County arts center from concept to construction.
Local arts advocates trying to build a community arts center adjacent to East Ridge High School's theater area said a Woodbury woman who died last year left roughly $2 million for the project.
Fundraisers declined to name the woman ahead of a Feb. 18 meeting with the District 833 School Board, but said receiving her donation is the only way the project can go forward.
"It's a very big deal," said Michelle Witte of Arts Connection, the group trying to raise $2.5 million to build the center.
