District 57 legislative town halls begin with Kriesel event
South Washington County residents have an opportunity this weekend to ask questions of freshman state Rep. John Kriesel.
Kriesel, R-Cottage Grove, will host his first town hall-style meeting Saturday in Cottage Grove. The event will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at American Motorsports Bar and Grill, 7240 E. Point Douglas Road. It is open to the public.
Fellow Republican Rep. Denny McNamara of Hastings will join Kriesel Saturday. Kriesel represents District 57A, McNamara District 57B.
The Cottage Grove event is Kriesel's only scheduled town hall, but he plans another later in the legislative session, in April or early May, his office said.
Sen. Katie Sieben, DFL-Cottage Grove, has two town hall meetings planned for this month in District 57. The first is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19 at South St. Paul City Hall. Sieben will be joined by fellow Democrat U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum and other state lawmakers.
Sieben scheduled a second town hall for 6:30 p.m. March 24 at Hastings City Hall. Sieben also plans town hall meetings for Cottage Grove and Afton this spring but they have not been scheduled, according to her office.
