Despite snow, Holiday Train still a go
Despite predictions of heavy snowfall Friday and Saturday, the Canadian Pacific Railway's Holiday Train will make its scheduled stop in Cottage Grove on Saturday between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., just south of the 80th Street/Sieben Bridge in Cottage Grove.
"The Holiday Train stop in Cottage Grove will definitely take place. Weather will not stop the train," said Canadian Pacific Railway spokesman Jeff Johnson. "They have performed in -50 degree weather, so they look forward to coming to Cottage Grove."
According to the Holiday Train Committee, which met Friday morning, volunteers will be bundled up and ready to hand out free hot beverages, cookies and glow sticks to visitors. They will also be selling CDs of Holiday Train entertainers, mini loaves of blueberry and cranberry walnut bread, cookies, knit hats and train ornaments.
The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Friends in Need Food Shelf in St. Paul Park.
