Criminal charge filed after drug sale in Cottage Grove
A man is accused of selling methamphetamine in Cottage Grove.
Prosecutors charged Kenneth E. Korkki, 31, of Richfield, with second-degree sale of more than 3 grams of methamphetamine, following the arranged drug deal earlier this month.
The criminal complaint filed in Washington County District Court says Cottage Grove police developed a confidential informant who claimed to have purchased drugs from Korkki in the past. Police gave the informant $430 and outfitted the informant with a listening device.
The criminal complaint says the informant was driven to East Point Douglas Road and Hillside Trail on Jan. 10 to meet Korkki. The informant got into Korkki’s car and allegedly gave him $430 in exchange for 7.3 grams of meth, the complaint states.
Korkki was later arrested. His next court appearance is Feb. 19. The maximum sentence for second-degree meth sale is 25 years in prison and a $500,000 fine for a first drug conviction.
