County Road 18 in Afton will close for a month
Construction on County Road 18 in Afton, from Trading Post Trail to 2,000 feet to the west, will begin May 17, and the roadway will be closed to traffic during the work.
Construction is expected to last four weeks. Construction in this area includes moving utilities, installing storm sewer and reconstructing the roadway. In order to complete this work, the existing guardrail must be removed. With the amount of work being completed and the need to remove
the guardrail, closing the roadway to traffic will make the construction area safer for workers and residents. The closure will also expedite construction and allow the roadway to be
re-opened as soon as possible.
Construction is scheduled to be completed on this segment by June 11. The existing detour will remain in place until that time. Any unforeseen delays, such as adverse weather, could extend the schedule. The roadway will be open to traffic for the Fourth of July holiday.
