Cottage Grove seeks volunteer park rangers
The city of Cottage Grove is looking for people to serve as volunteer park rangers.
As part of the park ranger program, the volunteers will act as an extra set of eyes and ears for the city’s Parks and Recreation Department by answering questions from park users, collecting data, performing safety checks, keeping the parks beautiful by picking up trash and offering suggestions for improvements or repair.
After passing a background check, park rangers receive training, a uniform and work assignments. They have to be over 18 and “have a high level of integrity, reliability and ethics,” according to the city.
The time commitment is a flexible 2-4 hours a week, with some evenings and weekends. The program runs April through September.
