Maybe your neighbor has a spectacular flower or vegetable garden or you have an exceptional green space or maybe it's a business you frequent that has colorful flowers planted.

The commercial nomination includes all Cottage Grove organizations such as businesses, churches, schools and nonprofits. All residential properties nominated must be within Cottage Grove. Last year, Dee Denning and Mark Yzermans won the residential award and Applebee's won the commercial award.

Nominations will be accepted for both residential and commercial properties and are due by 4 p.m. Friday, July 26. Winners will be announced during the City Council's regular meeting on Aug. 7. The winners selected are based on the overall appearance, quality, uniqueness and environmental aesthetics of the garden.

To nominate someone or a business, download a form on the city's website and search "green garden" or pick one up at the Cottage Grove Public Works building, 8635 West Point Douglas Road.
