Cottage Grove road project awaits shutdown end
Cottage Grove picked a construction company a contract to extend West Point Douglas Road, but the project cannot begin until the state government shutdown ends.
The city wants to extend the Highway 61 frontage road about 800 feet to the signal-controlled intersection of Highway 61 and Manning Avenue. An uncontrolled Highway 61 access point south of Innovation Road would be closed.
City Administrator Ryan Schroeder said the project involves Minnesota Department of Transportation funds, which are not available during the shutdown.
The City Council on Wednesday awarded the work contract to Eureka Construction for $941,784.
