Jim Gorbunow, who became a local celebrity almost overnight for the creation of a 5-foot-tall snow kidney in his front yard, recently told his story on the CBS daytime talk show “The Doctors.” The episode is scheduled to air at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, on KARE-TV.

“I’m excited,” Gorbunow said about the show airing. “I just hope it’s longer on TV than it was (taping in person).”

With the help of social media, Gorbunow’s journey to finding a kidney has been shared across the United States and made headlines at Good Morning America before capturing the attention of the talk show. He and his wife, Jennie, traveled to California in early January to tape his portion of the show.

Since first sharing his story about the snow kidney in December, Gorbunow said several people have come forward offering to donate their kidney, including a neighbor.

The willing donors were directed to the University of Minnesota’s transplant unit, but there has been no word yet as to a match.

“Something will give, I can feel it,” Gorbunow said. “I just don’t know when. Until then my spirits are high and hopeful.”
