Cottage Grove police reports: Theft, drugs

A 50-year-old Cottage Grove man was ticketed after he was caught on camera giving marijuana to a clerk at SuperAmerica, 7162 East Point Douglas Road. The clerk called police March 17 after a man entered the convenience store, gave the clerk marijuana and left. It was captured on video. Police were given the man's license plate and located him. He was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana.

A 15-year-old Cottage Grove male was issued a juvenile ticket for possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called April 3 to a home in the 8500 block of Hillside Trail on a drug complaint.

Theft

A Cottage Grove resident reported a burglary March 8 at a garage in the 6500 block of 77th Street. Tools and a toolbox ($600 value) were stolen.

A Park High School student reported March 15 that a pair of headphones had been stolen. The headphones were recovered. There were no charges due to conflicting statements.

A resident in the 8800 block of Ironwood Avenue reported March 16 that an iPad ($180) was stolen from the residence. It was believed an acquaintance of a relative may have stolen the tablet.

Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported March 17 that an adult male stole two router bits. The 48-year-old Minneapolis man was issued a misdemeanor citation for shoplifting.

Two 16-year-old Cottage Grove girls were referred to the Youth Service Bureau for theft after police said they stole $48 worth of clothing from Kohl's, 7990 Hardwood Ave., on March 22.

A Cottage Grove man reported March 24 that three headphone sets were taken from a car parked at Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road. The man saw the suspect rummaging through the vehicle but the suspect fled before police arrived. The value of the stolen items was $60.

Norris Square Presbyterian Homes, 8200 Hadley Ave., reported the theft of prescription medication from the business on March 25. No value listed.

A 30-year-old Cannon Falls woman was cited after a shoplifting incident March 25 at Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road. The woman tried to run away from the store after stealing $267 worth of merchandise in her jacket, but police found her at the nearby Target store. She was cited for shoplifting, fleeing on foot, obstructing the legal process without force and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A woman called police March 26 to report that two unknown juveniles stole her daughter's medical inhaler while she was walking home from school near the Park Grove Branch Library on Hemingway Avenue. There was no suspect description.

A Cottage Grove man reported March 26 that a subwoofer speaker was stolen from a locked vehicle parked in the 8900 block of Ironwood Avenue. There was no sign of forced entry. Loss: $200.

A St. Paul Park woman reported March 27 that she ordered something on eBay and instead of it being sent to her current home it was mailed to her old address in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue. The package was stolen. Loss: $80.
