Cottage Grove police reports for Oct. 24: Suspicious activity, indecent exposure, drugs, burglary
Recent criminal activity reported in Cottage Grove:
A caller told police about 5:20 p.m. Oct. 10 that a man wearing only underwear was riding a bicycle near Hillside Elementary School, 8177 Hillside Trail. Police could not locate him.
Police received an anonymous tip about 2 p.m. Oct. 12 that a male and female were outside a car at Woodridge Park “doing things they shouldn’t be doing” in a park, according to the caller. Police could not locate them.
A woman told police a man flashed her about 9 p.m. Oct. 16 in the 8100 block of Hadley Avenue. She said she was walking down the sidewalk and a man on the other side of the street exposed himself to her. Police could not locate the man.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 25 that two tires were flattened in the 7900 block of 77th Street Court.
A Cottage Grove resident told police Sept. 30 that someone shot a BB at the siding of a home in the 8900 block of Greene Avenue. Minor damage reported.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe reported Oct. 2 that someone removed the cover from an equipment box at the railroad crossing at Belden Boulevard and Hadley Avenue.
Police are seeking a misdemeanor charge of damage to property against a 38-year-old South St. Paul man after he allegedly damaged a vehicle in the 7800 block of Hemingway Avenue on Oct. 4.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 8 that a window was broken on a vehicle in the 6200 block of Hedgecroft Avenue. The loss was estimated at: $250.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 3 that a windshield was broken on a vehicle in the 7900 block of 77th Street Bay.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 3 that a garage was broken into and a bicycle was stolen in the 7800 block of Hearthside Court. The damage was estimated at $200 and the bike was valued at $50.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 4 that the garage door handle was damaged at a home in the 9200 block of Indian Boulevard. No damage estimate.
A Shoreview man was cited for theft of $10 worth of gas at SuperAmerica, 7033 Jorgensen Lane, on Oct. 3.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 17 that someone smashed several pumpkins over a mailbox in the 7500 block of Ivystone Avenue. Damage: $50.
Police were called Sept. 26 to the 7200 block of Jenner Alcove where a vehicle had been tampered with. Nothing was stolen.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 29 that someone put a vaseline-type substance on a vehicle and on the door to a home in the 8100 block of 77th Street.
A 13-year-old Cottage Grove female was referred for a juvenile court petition Sept. 28 after she struck her mother during a domestic incident in the 8600 block of Jenner Lane.
A police officer on routine patrol about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 28 saw a vehicle parked illegally in the fire lane outside Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road. The driver had a suspended license and the vehicle interior smelled of burnt marijuana, according to the report. Police located a marijuana pipe. No charges were filed.
Police on Oct. 2 investigated a possible sale of prescription drugs involving students at Park High School. No citations had been issued or arrests made.
A police officer on routine patrol after 11 p.m. Oct. 11 spotted a suspicious vehicle parked with its windows down in the 9100 block of Hemingway Ave. The officer made contact with the four occupants and smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Subsequently, a 17-year-old Cottage Grove male was issued a juvenile citation for possession of drug paraphernalia. An 18-year-old Cottage Grove male and two 15-year-old Cottage Grove males were referred to the Youth Service Bureau.
A 20-year-old Woodbury man was cited for minor possession of alcohol on Oct. 4 after he was found with alcohol in a water bottle in the 7100 block of 80th Street.
A 17-year-old Cottage Grove male was cited for disorderly conduct following a fight with another male Oct. 4 at the South Washington Alternative High School, 8400 East Point Douglas Road.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 4 that someone stole tools and two golf club sets from a garage in the 9900 block of 74th Street. The stolen items were valued at $3,150.
A St. Paul woman reported Oct. 3 that a gym bag, another bag and shoes were stolen from a vehicle in the 7800 block of Jeffery Avenue. Loss: $235.
Kohls, 7990 Hardwood Ave., reported a $60 theft Oct. 4. Police have a suspect but she has not been charged.
A 27-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for shoplifting Oct. 4 at Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road.
Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road, reported Oct. 4 that someone stole $50 in groceries. The case is under investigation.
Three juvenile males were referred to the Youth Service Bureau for theft after stealing from Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road, on Oct. 5. They included a 12-year-old from Newport, a 13-year-old from Newport and a 13-year-old from Woodbury.
Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a theft Oct. 5. A 42-year-old St. Paul Park man and a 23-year-old Cottage Grove man were cited for shoplifting.
Police received a report Oct. 7 that a construction trailer was broken into in the 8600 block of West Point Douglas Road. Tools valued at $6,750 were stolen.
A Park High School student reported Oct. 7 that a phone was stolen from her purse at the school. Loss: $150.
A 27-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for shoplifting Oct. 8 at Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road.
Police received a report Oct. 10 that someone saw a male suspect steal three bottles of alcohol from G-Will Liquors, 6990 80th St. Police did not get enough information to prosecute the case.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Oct. 10 that her wallet was stolen from a shopping cart at Rainbow Foods, 7283 East Point Douglas Road. She lost credit cards and $323 cash.
A 38-year-old Hastings man was cited for theft Oct. 11 after stealing a belt from Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road.
A 17-year-old Inver Grove Heights girl was cited for shoplifting Oct. 13 at Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave.
SuperAmerica, 7162 East Point Douglas Road, reported a theft Oct. 14. Loss: $16. Police are trying to identify the suspect.
A 23-year-old Hastings man was cited for theft Oct. 16 at Menard’s, 9000 East Point Douglas Road.
An employee at Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road, reported Oct. 16 that an iPod was stolen. Loss: $300.
