Cottage Grove police reports for June 26: Vandalism, drugs, burglary, assault
Recent reported criminal activity in Cottage Grove:
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 1 that someone smeared dog feces on the front window of a home in the 9900 block of Hamlet Avenue.
Two Cottage Grove males, ages 14 and 15, were referred to the Youth Service Bureau after they were found in possession of marijuana and a marijuana pipe June 3 at Park High School.
A police officer on routine patrol about 8:15 p.m. June 3 noticed the passenger of a vehicle at East Point Douglas Road and 80th Street with a glass marijuana pipe. Police stopped the vehicle and a 17-year-old Cottage Grove male was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A police officer on routine patrol found a suspicious vehicle parked shortly before midnight June 13 at the Wag Farms dog park in the 9400 block of Glendenning Road. Subsequently, a 16-year-old Cottage Grove male who was in the vehicle was issued a juvenile citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jeffrey Stroth, 18, no permanent address, was arrested after a police officer allegedly saw him smoking marijuana near Kingston Park shortly before 7 p.m. June 15. Stroth was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana and was booked into Washington County jail for an outstanding warrant.
Police on foot patrol June 15 at Strawberry Fest at Kingston Park reported seeing a group of juveniles smoking. Subsequently, a 16-year-old St. Paul Park female was issued a juvenile citation for underage tobacco use, possession of tobacco and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Suspicious activityPolice were called shortly after midnight June 8 to the pool at an apartment complex in the 8100 block of East Point Douglas Road for a report of suspicious activity. There was a group of people out by the pool and one person was intoxicated, according to the report.
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 11 that someone stole a GPS device and $20 from a vehicle parked in the 7100 block of Hidden Valley Pond and stole a bicycle ($400) from the garage.
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 18 that a bicycle valued at $370 was stolen from an attached garage in the 7100 block of Isleton Court.
A Cottage Grove man was arrested June 12 for allegedly threatening his sister. Police were called shortly before midnight to a home in the 7800 block of Jocelyn Avenue for a reported domestic incident. Ryan E. Horihan, 25, allegedly threatened his 20-year-old sister with a two-by-four piece of wood. He was booked into Washington County jail on suspicion of fifth-degree domestic assault.
A Cottage Grove resident reported May 27 the theft of a utility trailer loaded with lawnmowers from the 6900 block of Timber Ridge Drive. The total loss for the trailer and two mowers was estimated at $2,700.
Jamaica BP gas station, 8490 East Point Douglas Road, reported a $97 gas drive-off on May 27.
A Cottage Grove man reported May 28 that construction tools valued at about $3,700 were stolen from the back of his son’s pickup truck parked in the 7000 block of Jensen Avenue. The thieves broke into a tool box.
A Cottage Grove resident reported that a locked, enclosed trailer was entered in the 6800 block of Ideal Avenue and a jack and locks were stolen. The loss was estimated at $90.
A Cottage Grove woman reported May 28 that her purse was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 6700 block of Ideal Avenue. The purse and contents were valued at $149.
A Cottage Grove woman on May 28 reported a theft from an unlocked vehicle in the 8900 block of 92nd Street. Medication, a phone charger and hand tools were stolen. Total loss: $780.
A Cottage Grove resident reported May 28 that three flower pots valued at $50 were stolen from a home in the 7800 block of 67th Street Court.
A Cottage Grove woman reported May 28 that someone stole her cellphone from the 8100 block of Hornell Avenue. She called the number and someone answered but refused to give the phone back to her. Loss: $125.
A Cottage Grove resident reported May 31 that a GPS device and tools ($1,100 total) were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 7400 block of Hidden Valley Trail.
Holiday gas station, 8610 East Point Douglas Road, reported May 31 that someone wrote a bad check for gift cards and $57 in gas. The gift cards were cancelled; the stolen gas was the only loss.
A Cottage Grove resident reported May 31 that a golf bag and clubs ($700) were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 7400 block of Hidden Valley Lane.
Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $20 gas drive-off on May 31.
A student at Park High School reported May 31 that her iPod Touch ($200) was stolen.
Kohls, 7990 Hardwood Ave., reported a shoplifting incident June 1. A 15-year-old Woodbury female was cited for stealing $16 in merchandise.

A Cottage Grove man reported June 3 that someone stole his hibiscus plant and the pot from in front of his garage in the 8400 block of Grafton Avenue.
A Bayport woman reported June 3 that her vehicle was stolen while it was parked in the 8800 block of Hadley Avenue. The vehicle was later found and a suspect was identified, but no arrests had been made.
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 3 that 40 Yugioh trading cards valued at $150 were taken from a home in the 7600 block of Hinton Avenue.
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 4 that an LED flashlight ($300) was stolen from one of two vehicles entered in the 8700 block of Greystone Avenue.
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 4 that a purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 8500 block of Greystone Avenue. The loss was estimated at $340.
A Cottage Grove woman reported June 4 that someone stole bank deposit slips from a vehicle parked in the 9300 block of Hale Avenue.

Country Inn and Suites, 8350 East Point Douglas Road, reported June 5 that paperwork and other records were stolen from a storage closet at the hotel.
A Cottage Grove man reported June 7 that wire from an irrigator was stolen from a farm field in the 10000 block of Ideal Avenue. The loss was estimated between $2,000 and $10,000.
