Cottage Grove police reports for July 24: Domestic, drugs, burglary
Recently reported criminal activity in Cottage Grove:
McDonald’s, 7355 East Point Douglas Road, called police shortly before midnight July 2 after four people who appeared to be intoxicated attempted to order food by walking through the drive-thru. There were no citations issued.
Tyler J. Pavel, 34, of Cottage Grove, was arrested July 2 on suspicion of fifth-degree assault after he allegedly threatened to kill his wife. The alleged incident occurred at their home in the 9600 block of Hale Avenue. Pavel left the house but was arrested nearby. He also was arrested for outstanding Ramsey County warrants and on suspicion of a prescription drug charge.
Police cited two people after checking on a suspicious vehicle parked shortly before 3 a.m. July 4 at the Wakota Inn and Suites, 7125 80th St. A 20-year-old Maplewood man was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia. An 18-year-old Cottage Grove woman was ticketed for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of a prescription drug without a valid prescription.
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 5 that someone broke into a home in the 8100 block of Heath Avenue and stole a computer and jewelry valued at $2,600. Entry was gained by prying open a garage service door, according to the police report.
Perkins restaurant, 7165 East Point Douglas Road, reported a burglary July 7. The suspect broke into the restaurant by prying a door and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
A 39-year-old Grey Cloud Island Township man was cited for damage to property in connection with a July 5 police call from a Cottage Grove man who said a tire was slashed on a vehicle in the 6500 block of 77th Street.
A Cottage Grove woman reported July 6 that her vehicle was keyed while parked in the street in the 8500 block of Jeffery Avenue.
A Cottage Grove man reported July 8 that a tire was slashed on a vehicle in the 7700 block of Jasmine Avenue.
A 16-year-old Cottage Grove girl was issued juvenile citations for shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia and tobacco violation following a theft July 5 at Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave.
Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road, reported July 5 that two adult female suspects stole merchandise. They left the store and could not be located.
Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave., reported a theft July 6. There was no arrest but police had a possible suspect. The case was under investigation.
A woman told police July 6 that someone stole her laundry from a dryer closet at Tumble Fresh, 8470 East Point Douglas Road. She had left her laundry unattended.
A 20-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for shoplifting July 8 at Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road.
A 41-year-old Hastings woman was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and arrested on a warrant for assault, and a 29-year-old woman, who had no permanent address, was cited for theft and arrested for two warrants for assault July 9 at the Wakota Inn and Suites, 7125 80th Street. Police were at the location to check on a suspect with a possible warrant when the arrests were made. Police recovered stolen checks from three different individuals during the arrests, according to the report.
Vladimir M. Pearson, 20, no permanent address, was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, disorderly conduct and minor consumption following an incident July 6 at BP gas station, 8490 East Point Douglas Road. Pearson allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for merchandise and then fought with two store employees, the police report said. He was booked into the Washington County jail.
