Cottage Grove police reports for July 18: Fire, vandalism, threats, theft
Recent criminal activity reported in Cottage Grove.
Firefighters extinguished a car fire June 21 in the 7700 block of Inskip Trail. No injuries were reported.
A Cottage Grove resident reported that a boat near the garage was spray-painted with black paint in the 9100 block of Jareau Avenue.
A Cottage Grove resident reported that someone spray-painted a swastika on the back of a house in the 9100 block of Janero Avenue. Damage estimated at $400 to $500.
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 29 that a house was egged in the 7900 block of Jeffery Avenue. No damage.
A Cottage Grove woman reported June 21 that she received threats by email from her ex-husband. Police were investigating.
Donald L. Highman, 23, no permanent address, was cited and transported to Washington County jail after he was found in Hamlet Park shortly before midnight June 22. He was cited for being in the park after hours and for not having the required equipment on his bicycle.
A 34-year-old Hastings woman was cited for theft June 27 after she stole $82 worth of merchandise from Kohls, 7990 Hardwood Ave.
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 27 that someone stole a metal moose-shaped welcome sign that was attached to a garage in the 8400 block of Goodview Ave. Loss: $40.
An adult male reported June 28 that $10 in change and a bottle of prescription medication were stolen from a vehicle parked at West Draw Park, 7050 Meadow Grass Lane.
An elderly Cottage Grove woman's family reported June 28 that someone stole several pieces of jewelry valued at $4,170 from the woman's residence in the 8200 block of East Point Douglas Road.
Rainbow Foods, 7282 East Point Douglas Road, reported June 28 that a number of steaks were stolen from the store. No suspects.
A Cottage Grove woman reported that her handicap vehicle ramp was stolen from a garage in the 7900 block of Hearthside Avenue. Loss: $2,500.

Police received a report July 1 that a bike valued at $500 was stolen from outside a home in the 7700 block of Janero Court.
Holiday gas station, 6921 Pine Arbor Drive, reported a $70 gas drive-off on July 1.
Police received a report shortly before 8 p.m. June 30 that a man approached a group of juvenile females on the playground at Crestview Elementary School, 7830 80th St., and asked if he could walk with them. The girls walked away from the man, and he then left the area before police arrived. Officers were unable to locate him.
