Cottage Grove police reports for Feb. 19: Theft, property damage, drugs, assault
Recent reported criminal activity:
G-Will Liquors, 6990 80th St., reported a theft of liquor on Feb. 6. The store was going to provide suspect information to police.
A St. Paul Park woman reported Feb. 8 that she was at a Hearthside Avenue home when her keys went missing.
A Cottage Grove man reported Feb. 9 that someone stole a car diagnostic tool, a guitar amplifier and tools from a vehicle in the 11000 block of Lofton Avenue. Loss: $500.
A Cottage Grove man reported Feb. 10 that someone stole four to six packages of cigarettes from his vehicle parked in the 9100 block of Jareau Avenue. Loss: $50.
A Cottage Grove man reported Feb. 11 that someone removed credit card balance transfer checks from his mail in the 7300 block of Jordon Avenue.
A Crestview Elementary School student reported Feb. 11 that his iPad device was stolen from the school sometime within the past three weeks. There are no suspects.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Feb. 6 that she was stopped at the intersection of Hinton Avenue and 70th Street when a vehicle pulled up next to her and someone threw a rock, breaking a rear window on her vehicle. The suspect drove away and was not located.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Feb. 7 that a TV was broken at an Ideal Avenue home. A neighbor’s child likely was involved, and the incident was going to be handled by the neighbors.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Feb. 7 that a suspicious person followed her as she drove from McDonald’s on East Point Douglas Road to her home in the 6600 block of Idsen Avenue. The suspect vehicle then left.
A resident in the 10000 block of Grey Cloud Trail reported Feb. 12 that a woman came to the door saying she needed help with her car nearby, but then she left. Police could not locate her. Another resident reported seeing the woman in the area.
A 24-year-old Cottage Grove man was arrested on suspicion of a drug possession charge after police allegedly found him in possession of three pills without a prescription during a traffic stop Feb. 11 in the 7200 block of East Point Douglas Road. He was booked at the Washington County jail because of numerous instances of failing to appear on other charges.
A 24-year-old South St. Paul man is accused of assaulting a 22-year-old woman Feb. 7 at a home in the 7800 block of Hearthside Avenue. The couple were having a verbal fight when the man yelled at her and then grabbed her neck while she was on a bed, according to the police report. The man left the scene and has not been arrested. A formal complaint was issued for him for felony domestic assault, due to two previous assault convictions
