Reported criminal activity in Cottage Grove:

Disturbance

A Salvation Army bellringer stationed outside Walgreens, 7135 East Point Douglas Road, on Nov. 23 was ordered to leave after he was using inappropriate language at the store, according to a police report. The man was told not to return.

Attempted theft

A Cottage Grove man told police Nov. 24 that his neighbor had alerted him to the fact that his vehicle was blocking the road in the 6800 block of Idsen Avenue. The caller determined that someone had tampered with the vehicle and possibly tried to steal it. A GPS device valued at $400 was stolen from the vehicle.

Burglary

A Cottage Grove resident reported Dec. 3 that someone broke into a farm building in the 8800 block of 70th Street. Padlocks were broken and unique latches were removed. Loss: $150.

Domestic

A 19-year-old Lake Lillian, Minn., woman was cited for obstructing the legal process following a domestic incident Nov. 30 at an Indian Boulevard home. Nobody was injured during the verbal dispute between the woman and her boyfriend, according to the report.

A 41-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for fifth-degree domestic assault and booked at the Washington County jail following a domestic incident Dec. 14 at his home in the 6700 block of Pine Crest Trail. He allegedly made threatening statements toward his 37-year-old wife, causing her to fear for her safety, according to the police report.

A 36-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited and arrested Dec. 15 on suspicion of fifth-degree assault for allegedly grabbing his 34-year-old wife’s shirt and shaking her during an incident at a home in the 6500 block of 77th Street, according to a police report. He was booked at the Washington County jail.

Suspicious activity

Police received a report Dec. 4 that an unknown woman offered to let two boys who were standing at a bus stop to wait in her vehicle because of the low temperature outside. The incident happened at Hyde Avenue and East Point Douglas Road. The woman left. Police were not able to locate her.

Threat

A 12-year-old Cottage Grove boy was referred Nov. 26 to the Youth Service Bureau for terroristic threats after police said he made a threat to another student that he may bring a weapon to school and harm a student and her family. He did not bring a weapon and nobody was injured, according to police.
