Recent criminal activity reported in Cottage Grove:

Property damage

A Cottage Grove man reported Nov. 24 that someone threw a rock through a window of a vehicle in the 6200 block of Hedgecroft Avenue. Loss: $300.

Police received a report Nov. 28 that a mailbox was damaged in the 8300 block of Granada Avenue. Damage: $50.

Police received a report Dec. 3 that a group of mailboxes were knocked over in the 9200 block of Indian Boulevard. Damage: $1,300.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Dec. 7 that a window was broken on a vehicle parked in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue. Damage: $500.

Bamboo Garden, 7145 East Point Douglas Road, reported Dec. 11 that an unknown vehicle hit the building sometime after closing Dec. 2 and before the restaurant’s opening Dec. 3. Damage was estimated at $11,400.

Drugs

A 16-year-old Cottage Grove boy and a 17-year-old Cottage Grove boy were both cited for  possession of drug paraphernalia Dec. 11 at Park High School, 8040 80th St.

Theft

A 53-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for shoplifting on Nov. 22 at Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road. Later that day, Menards reported another shoplifting incident in which two suspects left the store after stealing a tape measure. They were not pursued.

Police were investigating a theft that occurred Nov. 22 at Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road. Someone  stole $624 worth of merchandise. Police were working to identify a suspect, according to the report.

A 72-year-old Hastings woman was cited for shoplifting Nov. 25 at Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Nov. 27 that a handicap parking placard was stolen from a car in the 7600 block of Hinton Avenue.

Zachary S. Long, 23, of South St. Paul, was arrested Nov. 27 on suspicion of theft after he allegedly stole merchandise from one Menard’s store and tried to return it to the Cottage Grove Menard’s store at 9000 East Point Douglas Road.

A Cottage Grove man reported Nov. 27 that a $700 camera and $1,500 worth of other items were stolen from a storage unit at Acorn Mini-Storage, 8625 West Point Douglas Road.

A Cottage Grove man reported Dec. 2 that a TV valued at $400 along with a broken video game system and DVDs were stolen from a home in the 8700 block of Greene Avenue.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Dec. 4 that a $200 necklace was stolen from her home in the 6100 block of 85th Street. There is a possible suspect.

Felony theft charges were pending against a male suspect who on Nov. 30 allegedly stole four tablet devices and other merchandise ($1,405 total) from Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road.

Lawrence D. Sanders, of Prescott, was arrested Dec. 4 on suspicion of felony possession of shoplifting tools and gross misdemeanor theft after he allegedly stole merchandise valued at $600 from Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road.

Target, 8655 East Point Douglas Road, reported Dec. 4 that a tablet device valued at $400 was stolen from the store. The incident is under investigation.

Kohls, 7990 Hardwood Ave., reported a theft Dec. 7. A 15-year-old Cottage Grove girl was issued a juvenile citation for shoplifting.

Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a theft Dec. 7. A male suspect stole $777 worth of merchandise, but the store’s loss prevention staff recovered the items in the parking lot. The suspect left the area.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Dec. 9 that someone stole handicap parking placards from two vehicles in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue.

Police received a report Dec. 9 that a garage door opener was stolen from a vehicle in the 9500 block of 78th Street.
