Cottage Grove police reports: Burglary, property damage, vandalism, theft
Recently reported criminal activity in Cottage Grove:
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 27 that someone knocked over planters at a home in the 9900 block of 77th Street.
Police were called June 30 after graffiti was found at Woodridge Park, 9000 90th St.
Zion Lutheran Church, 8500 Hillside Trail, reported July 2 that the church had been vandalized. There was graffiti on the side of the building.
A Cottage Grove resident called police July 2 after someone shot out a window of a home with a BB gun in the 8300 block of Hyde Avenue.
Rainbow Foods, 7280 East Point Douglas Road, reported July 3 that the building was vandalized. There was graffiti on the west side of the building.
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 3 that someone shot paintballs at vehicles in the 8700 block of Hale Court. No permanent damage.
Disturbing the peace
A 57-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for disturbing the peace after he had been yelling and playing loud music after 10 p.m. at a home in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue. Police warned him once, but were called back to the home a second time.
Police received four reports of damaged yard lights June 30 in the 7400 block of Hidden Trail.
A Cottage Grove resident called police July 2 because a wood trellis was damaged in a yard in the 8400 block of Hillside Trail. Damage: $10.
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 2 that a bottle was thrown at a vehicle, causing a dent, in the 7700 block of Inskip Trail.
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 2 that someone broke a yard light in the 7100 block of Goodview Avenue. Loss: $100.
A Cottage Grove resident reported a burglary late July 1 in the 11000 block of Lockridge Avenue. The burglary occurred during the evening when nobody was home. Someone forced entry through a window. Jewelry was believed to be stolen, according to report.
A Cottage Grove woman was arrested on suspicion of burglary following a report July 4 that someone broke into a home in the 8400 block of 85th Street. Cassandra L. Sirek, 19, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary. She allegedly broke in and took personal belongings.
Burlington Northern reported July 2 that an 18-foot trailer containing $30,000 to $40,000 worth of railroad equipment was stolen from River Acres Road and 115th Street. Cottage Grove police and Burlington Northern were investigating.
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 2 that three subwoofers were stolen from a vehicle in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue. A vehicle window was broken to gain access.
A Cottage Grove resident called police July 2 after discovering someone had stolen copper pipe from a sprinkler system in the 7800 block of Hemingway Avenue. Loss: $250.
Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $72 gas drive-off July 2.
A Cottage Grove woman reported her vehicle was stolen from the Metro Transit park-and-ride lot in the 7500 block of West Point Douglas Road. The 2013 Kia was valued at $28,000. The keys were not in the vehicle.
Walmart, 9300 East Point Douglas Road, reported July 3 that someone stole $55 worth of merchandise by going through the self-checkout area but not paying for the items.
