Recent criminal activity reported in Cottage Grove:

Harassment

A Cottage Grove woman reported July 31 that she received an anonymous letter harassing her. It was not known who sent it.

Property damage

Armstrong Elementary School, 8855 Inwood Ave., reported Aug. 1 that wood was damaged near the garbage area. Then, on Aug. 5, the school reported that wood was broken near the garbage area and a ramp at a portable building was damaged. Damage: $50 plus labor costs.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 7 that a window was broken on her vehicle parked in the 7300 block of Jocelyn Place. Items were thrown about but nothing was missing. There was no damage estimate.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 8 that someone slashed a tire on a vehicle parked in the 8100 block of Hearthside Avenue. Damage: $200.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 11 that an unknown vehicle left skid marks in a driveway in the 10000 block of Kimbro Circle.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 11 that he heard a loud sound outside his home in the 7000 block of Innsdale Avenue and then found a burned patch in his yard. It's suspected that someone lit fireworks in his yard.

Theft

A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 1 that an unlocked vehicle was entered in the 9100 block of 75th Street. Cigarettes, a lighter and $7 change was stolen.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 1 that a backpack containing an old checkbook and paperwork was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 9100 block of 75th Street.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 2 that a GPS device and some loose change were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 7000 block of Jensen Avenue. Loss: $215.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 2 that an unlocked vehicle was entered in the 9400 block of 71st Bay Street. Some change was stolen.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 2 that an unknown person took $6,000 cash from him somewhere in Cottage Grove. The victim asked to remain anonymous. The incident is under investigation.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 2 that license plates were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 9000 block of Kimbro Avenue.

A 19-year-old Newport man was ticketed for theft after he stole three bottles of alcohol valued at $60 from G-Will Liquors, 6990 80th St., on Aug. 2.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 6 that someone stole $25 she dropped outside her residence in the 6800 block of Pine Crest Trail when she went out there to leave an item she had sold on Craigslist.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 6 that jewelry valued at $3,000 was stolen from her home in the 9200 block of Jergen Avenue. A party had been held at the residence.

Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a theft Aug. 6. Male and female suspects turned over merchandise to store staff and left in a vehicle. They could not be located.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 7 that a garage door opener was stolen from a vehicle parked at a home in the 7400 block of Jocelyn Avenue.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 7 that a wallet containing a bank card, $20 cash and $20 in coins was stolen from a locked vehicle parked in the 7300 block of Jocelyn Avenue. A cellphone charger also was stolen.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 8 that someone stole $10 in change from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 9400 block of 72nd Street.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 9 that a wallet was missing from a residence in the 9900 block of Hamlet Court.

Rainbow Foods, 7282 East Point Douglas Road, reported a theft of about $720 in items. The theft involved an ex-employee and was under investigation.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 10 that during the previous night her 2001 Chrysler minivan was stolen from her home in the 7400 block of Hydram Avenue. The keys had been left in the ignition. The van was later found unoccupied at Oakwood Park.

A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 10 that someone stole a cellphone from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7400 block of Hinton Park Avenue. Loss: $100.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 12 that a $7,000 ring was stolen from her residence in late-2011 and now she thinks it was pawned.
