Cottage Grove police reports for April 23: Fire, vandalism, trespassing, theft
Recently reported criminal activity in Cottage Grove:
A 15-year-old St. Paul Park boy was turned over to his parents after he was found intoxicated March 29 outside a home in the 8000 block of Hemingway Avenue.
FireFirefighters were called at 9:22 p.m. March 31 to a fire at a home at 8471 Hilo Lane, after the homeowner reported smoke coming from heating vents. There was no major fire damage and no injuries. The cause was believed to be a burnt electrical extension cord that was plugged into a heater, according to the report. VandalismKok Funeral Home, CenturyLink and ReMax Real Estate, all located on 80th Street, reported April 1 that the buildings had been sprayed with graffiti.A homeowner in the 8400 block of Goodview Avenue reported April 1 that a mailbox was damaged. The damage was estimated at $200.A homeowner in the 9400 block of Jareau Avenue called April 5 to report vandalism. The homeowner said the house had been egged and glass bottles were thrown in the driveway. TrespassingMarcus A. Jones, 19, who has no permanent address, was arrested for trespassing and a 19-year-old Cottage Grove man was issued a trespassing warning following a complaint April 1 in the 7800 block of Hearthside Avenue. Jones was booked into the Washington County jail because of a history of failing to appear for court hearings. TheftA Crestview Elementary School student reported March 26 that a cellphone ($55) was stolen from the school.
