Cottage Grove Police Department seeking volunteer reserve officers
The Cottage Grove Police Department is seeking six volunteers for the Police Reserves.
The Cottage Grove Police Reserve is made up of citizen volunteers who assist the police department with a variety of duties and responsibilities. Reserve members come from all walks of life and join to assist and give back to their community. Other members are seeking careers in law enforcement and join the Police Reserve for experience, while others are employed in the private sector and volunteer to fulfill a civic need or duty.
Each month reserves participate in training designed to increase their knowledge of law enforcement procedures. This training is conducted by active officers of the police department with high levels of experience. Reserves are given the opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards that the position of a police officer has to offer.
Reserves are not paid but they receive equipment and training.
In 2013, they volunteered 2,668 hours. The Reserves covered 28 emergency callouts and 38 special details outside their normal parades, civic events and patrols.
To apply for the Police Reserves complete an application and submit to the Cottage Grove Public Safety Department at 12800 Ravine Parkway, Cottage Grove, MN 55016.
