Cottage Grove police brief: Few details as man's assault investigated
Authorities continue to investigate a Cottage Grove man’s apparent assault in his home last month, but a lack of details has made it difficult to identify a suspect, police said.
A 36-year-old man’s children arrived at their Hinton Heights home Nov. 15 to find him on the living room floor bloodied, unresponsive and suffering from severe facial injuries. The man was hospitalized for a few days due to the injuries. He appeared to have been beaten on his face and possibly cut, police Capt. Pete Koerner said.
When the man saw pictures of himself that were taken by police at the scene, he concluded that he must have been assaulted but had no memory of the incident or who might have wanted to assault him. There was no sign of forced entry to the home.
The case remains an open investigation.
