Cottage Grove man faces felonies in teen sex abuse case
Cottage Grove Minnesota 7584 80th Street South 55016

A convicted sex offender faces multiple criminal charges after admitting to Cottage Grove police that on numerous occasions he drugged a teen girl and had sex with her.

Washington County prosecutors charged Donald A. Oreskovich Jr., 41, with three felony counts in connection with allegations he repeatedly had sex with a 13-year-old girl known to him.

After Oreskovich was arrested last month, at least two other alleged victims claimed he touched them sexually, according to the criminal complaint filed in Washington County District Court. There is an ongoing investigation.

Oreskovich admitted to police during a Feb. 23 interview that he knew what he had done was wrong and that the 13-year-old girl would report it. He then explained that he would give her muscle relaxants and sleeping pills, and spiked her water or lemonade at  least four times with medication.

“(Oreskovich) admitted that he took advantage of (her) impairment in order to have sex with her,” the complaint states.

According to the criminal complaint:

The girl’s mother called police Feb. 22 to report that her daughter said she had been raped by Oreskovich. The girl and another child sometimes stayed with him when their mother was out of town.

The girl met with police that day. She said she was staying at Oreskovich’s house and he gave her medication because she hurt herself snowboarding a few days earlier. She thought it was ibuprofen but it made her feel like “she was floating” and that she had been drugged. She said she remembered waking up on Oreskovich’s bed as he was having sex with her.

The girl said they had had sex approximately 10 times before and that he would frequently talk about it. They first had sex when the girl was 12, she told police.

During his police interview, Oreskovich admitted to buying two cellphones, and that the girl didn’t want to have sex but would do it to get the phones.

Oreskovich was convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1996. The victim in that case was a 7-year-old girl known to him.

Oreskovich is charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. One is for allegedly having sex with the girl when she was 12 and he was more than three years older than her. A second charge is for having sex with her while she was 13 and he was in a position of authority over her. The third charge alleges the sexual abuse involved multiple acts over an extended period of time.

Assistant Washington County Attorney Karin McCarthy, who is prosecuting the case, said reports of other alleged victims still are under investigation.

Oreskovich’s attorney could not be reached for comment.

Oreskovich is being held in Washington County jail on $750,000 bail. He had a March 7 court appearance. His next hearing is set for March 28 and a jury trial was scheduled for May 19.
