Cottage Grove K-9 unit receives $19,000 donation
A $19,362 check was recently presented to the Cottage Grove Police Department to be used toward continued funding for its K-9 program.
The Crime Prevention Board, a longtime city program that has donated thousands to law enforcement endeavors throughout the years, presented the city with the check last week.
The money will help the department keep up with training, equipment and other costs associated with Blitz, the department’s 7-year-old German Shepherd.
Blitz is certified by the United States Police Canine Association in narcotics detection and has participated in several operations in which he located lost individuals and people evading capture.
