Cottage Grove fundraiser to help overseas troops
Members of “A Touch of Home,” a ministry of Crossroads Church, are holding a hot dog, brat, hamburger and pulled pork fundraiser for troops overseas from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at the church’s Cottage Grove campus, 80th Street and Jamaica Avenue.
Visitors may bring donations for troop care boxes, help pack a box during the fundraiser, browse through a collection of classic cars, and read letters and cards and see photos that have been sent from troops during the Touch of Home ministry over the past 11 years. Donations can also be dropped off at the church prior to the event.
Items to be donated for care boxes include homemade baked goods such as a Chex snack mix, bars, cookies, Rice Crispy bars and other items such as protein bars, beef jerky, powdered drink mixes, double- and triple-A batteries, travel size personal hygiene items, toilet paper and magazines.
