It’s nearly peak growing season and the harvest is evident in overflowing vendor booths at the Cottage Grove Farmers Market.

The market has up to 22 vendors each week. Also this year, a small, mobile market is open from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays at Norris Square Senior Living, said market coordinator Kim Heilmann.

In addition to selling fresh produce and other homemade items, the market donates produce in the community. So far this year, Friends in Need Food Shelf, in St. Paul Park, and needy families in south Washington County have received a total of 67 pounds of produce, Heilmann said.

The farmers market is held 2:30-6:30 p.m. Thursdays at the Cottage Grove United Church of Christ, 7008 Lamar Ave., in Old Cottage Grove.
