Cottage Grove Elementary donates $1,000 toward city's all-inclusive playground project
A local school is helping to fund construction of a Cottage Grove city playground for people with disabilities and social, cognitive and other challenges.
Cottage Grove Elementary School recently donated $1,000 toward the city’s inclusive playground project, after the school was picked by Bell State Bank and Trust to make a donation with bank funds.
School staff picked the city playground as its recipient.
“We do have a higher population of students with physical disabilities that are not always able to access a regular playground,” said Theresa Blume-Thole, Cottage Grove Elementary School principal. “We are excited about the possibility of the development of a park that would benefit these students specifically.”
The city hopes to build the inclusive playground by 2015. Anyone interested in donating to the project can call Molly Pietruszewski at 651-458-3404.
