Cottage Grove Charter Commission to meet; vote to disband possible
The Cottage Grove Charter Commission may vote to disband later this month.
The commission in 2012 and earlier this year studied the ramifications if Cottage Grove switched from a statutory government to a charter structure. That change would have required drafting a charter that outlines city government structure and getting the approval of voters.
The charter process was triggered after residents who were upset about the financing of the new City Hall collected signatures on a petition.
Commission members ultimately voted against pursuing a charter. They will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at Cottage Grove City Hall, for perhaps their final meeting. They will discuss a required annual report and consider whether to disband.
