The first Sunday in December traditionally is the day when Santa greets local children to hear what they want for Christmas while parents and grandparents take lots of pictures. The event, hosted Sunday by the Cottage Grove Lion's Club at VFW Post 8752, included a breakfast of pancakes, eggs and sausage as kids contemplated their encounter with Santa. The Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest royalty painted children's faces.
